Tri Stories: Spring is in the air…

Tri Stories: Spring is in the air…

Warrior III

I'm lovin’ the weather in Chi-city, though we are in the midst of Winter, Mother Nature has blown in with a taste of Spring! Just a taste, enough to remind us all that flowers will soon blossom…..I could actually smell Spring in the air today, warm temps in high 50’s , windy but a nice wind…..brisk enough to wake you up, putting a little pep in your step….I walked a little slow today really enjoying the wind blowing through my hair, warm...brisk winds……..Aahhhhh….Spring is right around the corner, Thanks Mother Nature for the reminder……Let’s finish up Winter!

Chi-city

I was up early, immediately noticing the sun was shining bright…..After packing my bag I head out to my spin class…….Today I did things in reverse, spin, steam bath, yoga, meditation…It’s one of those day’s……..I think by now ya know I love my spin teachers….Lol….so I’ll leave the gushing aside, FABulous class today!! Julie had a high energy class today….the course ride went from, fast standing runs, to  slow steady running, transition into a standing climb increasing resistance total 4x each climb, then heading back down the hill, once on flat road SPRINT!! We did the course four times, I was riding next to a dude that is a regular…..He ALWAYS does his own thing ....all the time, so I don’t get caught up in his energy, except for sprints, he sprints like no other.....but the rest of the ride, I focus on the peeps in front of me, for needed energy as we tackle the course……Now that I think about it, there was no music trivia this week…..hummm….The class was packed today, a full class changes the ride completely, when you can feel others riding hard, trying to keep good form  transitioning from sitting to standing (running & jumping) on four counts….WHEW……That takes a lot of endurance and breath work, and when a group of spinners are in the same zone.....Pfffttt.....NOTHING BETTER….natural high…YUMMY! Spinning is one of the BEST cardio workouts you can do….it’s non weight bearing and YOU control the ride….Anyone hesitant about starting a cardio regimen, I highly recommend spinning…..it’s great for the knees, tones the hamstrings, quadriceps, abs, calf’s…..Every spin class I’ve attended offer heart rate monitors to wear during class, this is an opportunity to find out your resting and active heart rate……..If you’ve been thinking about it….Give it a try!! *side note* make sure you invest in some padded bike shorts!!

Revolved Triangle

I exit the spin studio almost running to get into the steam bath, my time is pressed on Thursday mornings, so I have to get in, out, showered, dressed and out the front door in less than 30 minutes!! I make it happen…..ALWAYS…..I had the steam bath to myself again…yayyy……I do some breathing exercises in there I love inhaling and exhaling the eucalyptus, my entire self responds…..Mind, awakened…..Body, relaxed….Spirit, Up……The perfect energy to teach my noon class!

Later in the afternoon I move into my personal practice and meditation….I’ve been working on a few poses, daily building strength and working deeply with my breathing…Instead of moving through those particular poses, I follow my body's desire….Listening to what my  body desired... I move through a potpourri of poses….I like that! (LISTEN to what the body desires.....it's that simple).  Triangle (Trikonasana,) Side intense stretch (Parsvottanasa), Tree (Vrksasana), Intense wide leg stretch (prasarita Padottanasa) Arms up (Urdhva Hasta), Warrior I III (Virabhdrasana I & III), Navasana (boat), Shoulder stand (Salamba Sarvangasana), Twist (Marichyasana)…..And ya know my practice is never complete without PIGEON pose added in! I actually moved into pigeon early in the sequence…….Very Nice personal practice and spin today…….simply lovely!

Peace,

Boat
