Tri Stories-Brick Tuesday
Today was the day to get the brick in!! I ran 40 minutes on the treadmill and took a spin class…….I was feeling really energized this morning, it’s like the hard training on Saturday has settled in, and my entire body feels good!! I move into sun salutations, focusing on my breath awarness along the way……The thing about, yoga and cardio…..I’ve become so accustomed to nostril breathing in my yoga practice, that it can become quite the challenge to breathe through my mouth when biking or running…….I’ve definitely increased my breathing exercise time…..after a nice savasana I head out to the gym, to get my cardio in.
My run was strong, and time seemed to fly by…….I like that because it’s a sign I’m increasing my endurance, I remember running for ten minutes had me gasping for breath and reaching for the side rails…..I like noticing the improvement….sign of stronger lungs, and strong heart…….NICE……and I’ve only been at this for six weeks! All it takes is to get started to see improvement in the entire body!! I did not feel ANY tinges in my knees today, not one bit! I think all the spinning classes have helped me with that….as well as in cooperating more warrior I & II variations in to my personal practice…….I tend to hold these standing asanas and really work on my breath and alignment in the pose…..strengthen my knees, ankles and quadriceps, as well as my all time favorite pose …..PIGEON….I owe my tri training to pigeon pose….Lol….I really do!!
Spinning was very strong today!! DeWitt was teaching and we had some strong climbs, runs and a bit of jumping……I like this class as the same group of people seem to come each week, and the music is much, much, better!! Our six minute seated climb was INTENSE! During the ride we increase the intensity several times, the legs get heavy, and the upper body relaxes and you just peddle….not thinking about it to much just peddle. Let me say it again….. I love, love, love, the feeling of working out with intensity, not with ego but with INTENSITY!! There is such a difference and when you can separate the two……Aaaahhhhh…..it makes the entire body feel alive….senses seem heightened, internal happiness shows externally, strength shines through, as peace flows from within…….I just LOVE IT!
STEAM BATH TIME!!! Lol……I was looking forward to this steam bath today, all the running and biking, I wanted to treat my tired bones and muscles and organs to the wonders of a steam bath…..Aahhhhh……This is one of the best treats for your entire body…..if you’re paying for a gym, spa or health club membership and not utilizing this on a regular bases……Ooooh, are you missing out…..Give it a try! I stay in for twenty minutes…..JUST ME!! I stretch, and relax and just be, without the energy of another.
Steam baths are known for their relaxation and deep skin cleansing, but they also offer up a bunch of health benefits, such as;
relief from muscle soreness (especially after intense workouts)
relief from stiff joints
immune system enhancement
lymph detoxification
blood circulation improvement
